Review of the UK’s AML/CTF Regulatory and Supervisory Regime – Consultation

The 2022 Review of the UK’s AML/CTF regulatory and supervisory regime concluded that while there had been continued improvement to the regime, some weaknesses in supervision may need to be addressed through structural reform. The Review set out four possible models for a future AML/CTF supervisory system.

On the 30th June 2023, HM Treasury published a consultation on reform of the anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CTF) supervisory system.

The consultation invites respondents’ views regarding the potential benefits and dis-benefits of each potential reform model.

HMT are hosting a webinar to present a one-hour summary of the contents of their consultation document and explain their plans for engagement over the summer.

They have advised that as part of this webinar it will be possible to submit questions or comments privately during the session and, where appropriate, receive a response by email.

The webinar is due to take place next Thursday 13th July at 4pm, and the event can be joined at this link: https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_YjhkZGUxNTEtYjM3Zi00NmNiLWIzZGItM2U1YjY5N2FmNmM0%40thread.v2/0?context=%7B%22Tid%22%3A%22ed1644c5-05e0-49e6-bc39-fcf7ac51c18c%22%2C%22Oid%22%3A%22a763900d-af1b-42bf-bf1f-a22f4bf671b4%22%2C%22IsBroadcastMeeting%22%3Atrue%2C%22role%22%3A%22a%22%7D&btype=a&role=a
