Disciplinary Hearings and Decisions

The Faculty Office exercises a disciplinary function over Notaries (including Scrivener Notaries) in England & Wales. Disciplinary Proceedings in the Court of Faculties are conducted in accordance with the Notaries (Conduct and Discipline) Rules 2015 and the Notaries (Conduct and Discipline) Fees and Costs Order 2015.

Interim suspensions

Where the Registrar receives evidence concerning a notary which amounts to prima facie evidence of Notarial Misconduct or a notary is charged with committing an offence (whether in England or Wales or elsewhere), the Registrar, if they are satisfied that it is required for the protection of the public, may make an interim order to suspend the notary from practice pending the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings.

The Registrar has imposed an interim suspension on the following notaries:
